Our Top 5 Family Activities

BIG4 Launceston Holiday Park want your stay in the North to be absolutely perfect so we’ve compiled our top 5 recommendations you may wish to experience whilst you’re here.

#1 Cataract Gorge:

Only 2kms from our park, this beautiful reserve has to be seen to be believed!

Enjoy a birds eye view of the gorge with the longest single span chairlift in the world or if you’re here in some warm weather…take a dip in the Gorge or large swimming pool. Children also enjoy spotting the peacocks, wallabies, echidnas and other native wildlife.

#2 City Park:

Take some time to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature only 3.7km from BIG4 Launceston Holiday Park. Take the little kids (and the big ones too) to see the Macaque Monkey enclosure – their funny antics are so entertaining to watch. BBQ facilities, the children’s playground, manicured lawns and beautiful gardens make City Park all that a family needs for a lovely afternoon in the outdoors! ps if Dad isn’t interested in this….. right adjacent to City Park is the National Automobile Museum of Tasmania or James Boags Brewery :)

#3 Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery:

Both the Museum and Art Gallery are FREE attractions, well equipped for families and are only a few kilometres from the park. At the QV Museum (the largest regional museum in Australia) you will find Tasmanian history, natural science collections and the permanent exhibition ‘Tasmanian Connections’ an interactive science centre in the ‘Phenomena Factory’ with plenty of educational activities for the children. The Art Gallery has ten galleries and also has the ‘ArtSparks’ family Art Space.

#4 Hollybank Treetops Adventure:

Well suited to the adventure seeker! Hollybank treetops combines the adrenaline of a high wire canopy ride, with an informative outlook of the beautiful forest. Soar from tree to tree along almost one kilometre of cable. Tours are suitable for ages 3-80 and there is even an option to experience a night tour for something a little different.

#5 Tamar Triple Pass:

A short drive up the West Tamar Highway takes you to the Beaconsfield Mine and Heritage Centre, Platypus House and Seahorse World. Embark on the Historical journey, play with treasures from the past and enjoy the interactive displays around the Beaconsfield museum. Platypus House is the only venue where visitors can watch Platypuses and Echidnas in an indoor setting. Seahorse world is also a must see attraction -providing an excellent educational experience as well as leading the world in research and development. Visit Beaconsfield, Platypus House and Seahorse World with a ‘Tamar triple pass’ to save dollars!
